Is this a local authority run housing complex? If so, you are unlikely to get a charity to donate one. Go to your local Council for Voluntary Service and ask them to do a search of local trust funds for you to apply to.
Try freecycle http://www.freecycle.org/ - a fab network! Put an add in the paper http://www.friday-ad.co.uk has a section which people advertise items that are free to collectors - there is also a place to state items wanted.
